Rejoice Always

Its pretty easy to give thanks on Thanksgiving day - sitting at a table filled with delicious food, in a warm house, with family around me. In prayer meeting recently, we talked about how important it is for us to praise God always. Each week, we have a huge list of prayer requests for healing, safety, guidance, etc. And if you're like me, we each have our own personal prayer lists that seem almost overwhelming at times. Its not always easy to praise and give thanks, but God wants us to rejoice always and give praise in every situation. A grandfather with a granddaughter who was facing the possibility of muscular distrophy reminded us of the importance of trusting God and praising Him even when things don't make sense. A father who was watching his daughter struggle with epilepsy praised God that it was bringing his family closer together and closer to God. It was not easy for these people to praise God, but they did. I pray that God will give me a spirit of praise so that I can thank Him in any situation.

The school recently had a very successful Bible fair. The students in grades 5-8 did their projects on doctrines and the lower grades did Bible stories. We have 10 students from non-Adventist families and it was great to see them learning about the Bible. There were also quite a few non-church members who attended and several took booklets and Bible study cards with them. The students are now working in teams to create their own outreach projects for the community.

That is taken from a book called Nutty News that I have in my classroom. My students and I had a great time reading some of the articles and making up our own.
